National Pollution Release Inventory (NPRI)Under the authority of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999), owners or operators of facilities that manufacture, process or otherwise use one or more of the National Pollution Release Inventory (NPRI) listed substances are required to report the details of the usage of the substance to the NPRI. The NPRI requires facilities that produce, manufacture, process, or otherwise use a listed substance at quantities greater than a threshold value identified by the NPRI to report to the NPRI on an annual basis. The NPRI list of substances contained 232 substances in 2002 and now contains 323 substances in 2004. These substances include core substances with a threshold value of 10 tonnes or a concentration threshold of 1%. Alternate threshold substances include arsenic, hexavalent chromium, lead tetraethyl lead (50kg or more) cadmium and mercury (5 kg or more), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (50kg or more), dioxins-furans-hexachlorobenzene and Criteria Air Contaminants (greater than 20 tonnes). Gandalf can screen your company to see if you are required to report under the NPRI program, and can prepare and submit the NPRI reports if necessary.
